Pergamon Museum

Berlin
This is one of the most popular attractions located on Museum Island in Berlin. Hundreds of thousands of people visit the Pergamon Museum each year. Renovated after the bombings during World War II, the museum has three separate sections; the Antiquity Collection, the Islamic Art Museum, and the Near East Museum.

You will find the altar from the Zeus Temple housed in the Pergamon Museum in the Antiquity collection section dating back to 180-160 BC - one of the most exciting archaeological finds ever!

The museum hosts antiques from ancient Bavaria, Assyria and Persia and has the largest collection worldwide, these can be found in the Near East section of Pergamon.

In the museum of Islamic Art, you can view illuminated manuscripts along with woodcarvings and carpets from Islamic times.

You can pick up a 30 minute pre recorded tour in English at the entrance if you wish which would give you a great insight to the holdings in the museum also.
