Bode Museum

Berlin
This museum was once know as the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum but renamed to Bode Museum in 1956. You'll notice this magnificent museum sitting at the edge of the river on Museum Island. The museum is a superb piece of architecture to look at and is recognised by its visible dome. This building, which was completed in 1904, is in fact, a historically preserved building.

The museum, originally designed by Ernst von Ihne, was arranged in the form of a three-winged building around several interior courtyards. It was built like this, so that the exterior facades immediately bordered the banks of the river Spree, in order to achieve the appearance of a building rising from the water.

Inside the museum, you can see explore an Egyptian Museum, a Sculpture Collection, a Museum of Byzantine Art, a superb Papyrus Collection, a Children's Gallery, a Picture Gallery and a cabinet full of ancient coins and medals.
